Tank welding on site

Doors too small - stairs too narrow

not a problem for ratiotherm!

We can deliver all tanks in a split design
and weld them together on site in the installation room.
(Also, shortening of the tanks is possible any time
if the ceiling is too low!)

Take a look at the following pictures to see how:

Delivery

  • Bumped boiler head with assembled layer inserts
  • Side pieces in half shells
  • Tank cover
  • Immersion sleeve
  • Tank insulation
  • Set of documents
  • Anti-corrosion paint

Yield

  • Layer inserts for a better yield, removable

Installation of layer inserts

  • Place the layer insert on the mounting platform and secure with the fastening screws

Weld on the support plate

  • For easier assembly 3 support rods are welded on each half shell

Constructing the side walls

  • The side walls practically slide into position on their own
  • Please make sure that the side parts are centred

Set up the weld gap

  • approx. 2 mm

Tack the parts together

  • Only weld using an arc welding process, such as MIG/MAG,
  • pulsed current arc or electrode welding
  • NEVER use gas-welding equipment!
  • Welding equipment of up to 250 ampere may be necessary, depending on the tank size

Tacking points

Screw in the immersion sleeve

  • Please ensure this is mounted before the cover weld, as retrofitting may not be possible due to an insufficient tilt height!

Cover installation

Sealing the tank

  • Mount the final side part

Fix the tension belt

  • The side parts are fixed with a tension belt

Final weld

  • Only weld using an arc welding process, such as MIG/MAG, pulsed current arc or electrode welding process
  • NEVER use gas-welding equipment!
  • Welding equipment of up to 250 ampere may be necessary, depending on the tank size

Weld the transverse seam

Cut into the transverse seam by grinding

  • If the weld seam is stopped, the seam is to be cut in by grinding before being restarted

Visual inspection

Sealing

  • Seal the lower tank connections

Pressure test

  • Water pressure test 1.5 times max. operating pressure
  • Duration min. 10 minutes
  • Check all weld seams and the connections
  • Never check these using compressed air!!

Paintwork

  • Clean, derust and degrease the tank surface
  • Apply the anti-corrosion paint
  • 2 coats are recommended
